The Perfect Peep

How to create the perfect peep in 4 easy steps-
  • Step one- Purchase a package of your favorite color peeps the first day that Easter candy goes on sale. Mine were purple this year.
  • Step two- Remove cellophane from the package of peeps. DO NOT eat them at this point.
  • Step three- Place the uncovered package of peeps in the cupboard and forget about them.
  • Step four- On Easter remove the package of peeps from the cupboard. Check to make sure they have hardened enough. You may have to try a bite to help determine if the proper amount of chewiness has been achieved. If they are properly tough and chewy- ENJOY!!!
Happy Easter Everyone!!!

I'm busting up laughing. I was sitting here eating nice fresh peeps thinking how much better they would be if they were stale! Then I see your message on your blog! I definately agree that is the way to eat Peeps! Happy Easter! Oh yeah and you are in big trouble! I can't believe you were in town and I didn't hear about it until it was too late to see you!

Amen to the hardened peeps! I LOVE peeps and have 2 packages hardening up in the cupboard right now. Something else that is totally cool is to roast them over a fire (fresh peeps). The sugar caramelizes and it's sugar heaven!

My sister gave me four packages she has had about 4 years. She said she gave them to me because she knew my kids would eat them better than hers. MY KIDS AREN"T GOING NEAR THEM. Mine, mine, mine. The roasting thing sounds good. We'll have to try that next time we are at your mom's. I'm always in for sugar heaven.

I love peeps that way! It seems that the humidity of VA doesn't allow your peeps to go stale. You have to put them in the oven on Broil to get the desired effect. LOL! So I guess there is at least one thing I miss about UT! Lol!
