Food for Thought Friday

What is the longest you have gone without sleep?
I think the longest I’ve been awake at one time was 25 hours- it was not pretty.

If you don't live alone, do you think you would be able to, and if you do live alone, do you enjoy it? Why?
I kind of have the best of both worlds. I have my own space in my apartment which is great when I want to be alone but when I want to be social I can hang out with Zeke and Amanda in their part of the house.

Would you rather give a public speech or bungee jump?
I’d do either one. Public speaking doesn’t freak me out too much (unless it’s a talk in church). I’d love to try bungee jumping.

Midnight Snack
Have you ever ridden on a train?
Yes- it’s a great way to travel in Europe!

Thankful Thursday

How did it get to be Thursday already? My goodness! It seems like I just did this. Anyways... This week I am thankful for~
  • the willpower to not slam on my brakes so the gal that was riding my bumper this morning would slam into me and maybe learn a lesson.
  • All my family members having birthday's this week- Austin, David, Denise and Tracy. Happy Birthday guys!!!
  • Surviving Wednesdays (they are my longest day of the week and it's always an accomplishment when I make through them)
  • That I'm not an accounting major.
  • Inspiring friends like those that are supporting Shari
  • An adorable girl that brought me a Krispy Kreme after her field trip
  • American Idol- it's silly and superficial but it's fun and an escape from real life

Star Light Star Twilight

Found this gem on Overhead in the Ward today and I just had to repost it-

Primary teacher: What should be do every night before we go to bed?
9-year-old primary girl: I know! We should read Twilight because Edward is SO hot!
9-year-old primary girl #2: No way. That’s not it… We should read Twilight every night because Jacob Black is WAY more hotter! DUH!

13. The Cutting Edge
14. My Fair Lady
15. The Birdcage
16. 27 Dresses
(I put the IMDB link for each movie so if you've never heard of it you can read check it out)

Name that Movie!

My friend Tara sent this to me in an email and instead of forwarding it on I decided to post it here.

These are the rules- You pick 16 of your favorite movies and pick a quote from them. then list them below. Send it out to friends and see if they can guess what movie they are from. NO CHEATING!! (takes the fun out of it!) Good luck!!

1. I'm saying I love you. I'm in love with you. And I've been waiting my whole life for someone like you and I'm not gonna let you go. Please don't go. I'm not gonna let you go.

2. Carrots!

3. Some people read because they can not think for themselves.

4. My heart is, and always will be, yours.

5. I can be Jell-O.

6. Will you marry me?
I don't think now's the best time!
Now may be the only time! I love you. I've made my choice. What's yours?

7. Sorry I'm late. It took me forever to get here.
I know what you mean.

8. I'm looking for corny in my life.

9. Oh, I love you, Adam, Alex, Peter, Brian, whatever your name is, I love you! I hope we have a lot of boys and we can name them all after you!

10. Young boys should never be sent to bed... they always wake up a day older.

11. You know, you really should watch your blood pressure. My nephew Izzy just keeled over mid-mango. Stress, it's a killer, sir.

12. I trust everyone. It's the devil inside them I don't trust.

13. I know exactly who I am, sweetheart. I'm a guy who came a long way for lunch.

14. I find that the moment a woman makes friends with me she becomes jealous, exacting, suspicious, and a damn nuisance. And I find that the moment I make friends with a woman I become selfish and tyrannical. So here I am, a confirmed old bachelor and likely to remain so.

15. Sweetie, you're wasting your gum!

16. I know my moral compass doesn't exactly point due north, but... if I say something's wrong, something's wrong.

Food for Thought Friday

How would you describe your life right now...a Three Ring Circus, the Indy 500, the Boston Marathon, or a day at the beach?
Definitely a three-ring circus! Unfortunately I’m not the ringmaster of the circus, I’m the juggler (and not a very good one!)

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

What is the strangest food you have ever eaten?
I’ve eaten a lot of things that I would consider strange- snake, squid, moose, poi, menudo.

Midnight Snack
Have you ever seen a Broadway musical? If so, which ones?
I’ve never actually been to Broadway but I’ve seen lots of shows that have been on Broadway. (I will go to Broadway one day; it’s on my list of things to do before I die.) I’ve seen Wicked, Mary Poppins, The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast, and Les Miserables.

  • Spencer- Happy Birthday buddy!!! I love you!!

  • Sleep- I'm not getting enough of it these days so I'm very thankful for the amount I do manage to get.

Ms. Vicki comes to town

My fabulous friend Vicki was in town this weekend from New Mexico so of course we had to have a get together. We met at Spaghetti Mama's at Jordan Commons for dinner and a movie.

Here's Christy, Meg and I showing a little love to the bottle of Vampire wine that was there. (I actually think the wine bottle is from Bella Italia)

After dinner we wandered over to the movie theater and caught a movie. We decided to see that silly vampire flick that everyone's been talking about.

Kim, Shelley, Christy, Vicki, Miranda and Paula

(I'm going to be in so much trouble for posting this one)
I had such an amazing night! I am so blessed to have these women in my life. Thanks gals!!!! Love you!

I *heart* Blue October- part two

I had no clue when I made yesterdays post that Blue October had announced their tour schedule- they are coming to Salt Lake March 31st!!!! I'm so excited!!!!

I *heart* Blue October

Pie Night

I put Pie Night on my thankful list this week and I've had several people ask me about it so I figured it needed a blog post. What is Pie Night? This is Pie Night-

The oh-so fabulous Kirsten slaved for hours making pies and then invited a few friends over to devour them. There was banana cream, coconut cream, chocolate cream, cream cheese, pumpkin and apple cranberry. I managed to try at least a bite of all of them but the pumpkin and cream cheese. It was heavenly!!!! The fact that I was devouring the pies with great friends made it even better! It was a wonderful night, something to be very, very thankful for =)

Food for Thought Friday

Are you a morning or night person?
100% a night person. Mornings are evil and should be avoided at all costs.

What do you do when you are feeling lonely?
I usually throw a doozy of a pity party- I’m quite the hostess!

What made you smile today?
The anticipation of dinner with my fabulous friends.

Midnight Snack
What did you do today that made you feel guilty?
I had a brownie for breakfast. I'm not even officially dieting and I still feel guilty- it's just against the rules to start out the day with a brownie. I'm totally blaming it on Colleen for having a birthday.

Ringing in the New Year

On New Year's Eve we gathered at Amanda's house for an evening full of lots of food and games. Tracy, Nick, Tyler and Piper came down from Logan and joined in the chaos. We spent the evening eating and playing Apples to Apples, Spoons and Uno on crack- it was so fun!!!

Just before midnight Tiffany broke out some New Year's accessories~

These pictures just made me laugh- I titled this slideshow The Piper Attack

Playing for Change: Stand By Me

My friend Jaime shared this video with me and I had to post it here. Here's the description from YouTube- From the award-winning documentary, "Playing For Change: Peace Through Music", comes the first of many "songs around the world" being released independently. Featured is a cover of the Ben E. King classic by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it travelled the globe. This and other songs such as "One Love" will be released as digital downloads soon; followed by the film soundtrack and DVD early next year. Join the Movement to help build schools, connect students, and inspire communities in need through music.

This is one of my all time favorite songs and this version is amazing!

Released and very relieved

Yes, the rumors are true- I've been released from Primary. Some of you may remember my complete freak out when I received my Primary Presidency calling (it was not pretty). I did get a little more comfortable with the calling but it stressed me out every week and I never got over some of the insecurities I had about the calling. So it was a great relief when I received a call from the bishop asking me to come in and meet with a member of the Bishopric. (although waiting an entire week for the appointment was horrible!!!) My new calling is teaching the 12-13 year old Sunday School class. I'm so excited! This is going to be so much better for me emotionally and spiritually (and even physically because it works so much better with my school schedule) I get to team teach with Lyn, which makes the calling even better.

My only issue is that I feel guilty that I'm relieved to be released from Primary. When I got the calling everyone told me I would learn to love my calling and that I would be sad when they released me but that wasn't the case, I was very relieved- does that make me a bad person?

This week I am thankful for~
  • New babies, fresh from Heaven, who remind me that miracles happen everyday
  • Friends who are still my friend even though I'm a slacker and don't keep in touch very well
  • Ibuprofen
  • New Callings (a detailed post on this one coming soon)
  • Target
  • Sleeping in on Sundays (no more 9 AM church!!!)

Spoiled Rotten

I was completely spoiled this Christmas! I got so many amazing things! I loved all of them but the one's that mean the most are the handmade ones. My Dad refinished this print drawer that Mom bought in Germany. Apparently it was painted solid black so he had to strip it and then stain it- tons of work!! I LOVE it!! I can't wait until I get it hung up and fill it full of knick-knacks.

Growing up we always had two big floor pillows. They are wonderful for watching movies, reading books and having pillow fights. I mentioned to Mom that I would love to have some and she made me two for Christmas. They are gorgeous!!!

Amanda made me this incredible board with hooks on it. (I don't know exactly what to call it.) The best part- the hooks are made out of FORKS!!!! Isn't it beautiful?!?!?!

This isn't a handmade gift but it really makes me smile- isn't it so me???

Tegan's Baptism

On December 27th Tegan was baptized, which was the real reason we went to Denver. The fact that we were there for Christmas was an added bonus.

I am so proud of him for making the decision to be baptized. Way to go Tegan!!!!

Christmas Day

Christmas day was a pretty lazy day. We got up about 7ish and opened presents. We all got spoiled rotten! Once everything was unwrapped and we had breakfast I had a nap (which was beautiful). Then we spent the rest of the day just playing with new toys, eating and watching movies. It was a really relaxing day.

Christmas Eve

Mom, Dad and I left very, very early Wednesday morning headed for Denver. Luckily Mother Nature was on our side and we had sunny skies all the way there. It was extremely windy across Wyoming. I had really sore fingers from the death grip I had on the steering wheel by the time my driving turn was over. We tried to get a picture of the blowing wind but it didn't turn out well.

We arrived in Denver safe and sound in the early afternoon. That evening was the Eaton family party so when we got to Lyn's house (where Leif and Laura are living right now) all the Eaton kids were there. That included Leif, Laura and their 4 kids, Laura's brother Brian and his wife Julianna and their son Mason, Laura's brother Nate and his wife Stacy and their three kids Evan, Austin and Lindsay, and Laura's Aunt and Cousin. It was quite a houseful and we had a fabulous night! We had a wonderful dinner, played games, did skits, decorated gingerbread trees and opened presents. It was a wonderful way to spend Christmas Eve. Here are a few random shots of the evening~
One of the skits required group participation. This is a clip of the boys singing Rudolph like the Chipmunks, it was hysterical!

Friday 5

1. What’s a dish you always go back for seconds of, even if you know you’ve had enough?
There are too many to list...

2. For how many seconds can you hold your breath?
I lasted 23 seconds before the room started to spin.

3. What was the second-best thing about your New Year’s celebration?
The food. Hanging out with everyone was the first.

4. What was your most recent second-hand purchase?
I honestly can't think of the last time I bought something second-hand.

5. A second-degree burn on human skin can be identified by the blistering it causes. When did you last suffer a second-degree burn?
Whenever I got sunburned last- I don't really remember when that was, I don't think it was last summer so it must have been the summer of 2007.

Twilight meets Pride & Prejudice

While procrastinating playing catch up on my blog I watched this on Kathy's blog. I watched it last week with Kyle (who did not appreciate it, btw) but I forgot how funny it was until I watched it again.

Thankful Thursday

This week I'm thankful for~
  • A safe trip to Denver and back
  • 2008 being such an amazing year- new babies (Shori), new friends, great travel, school, amazing family- what more could I ask for?
  • Spending Christmas with my brother and his fam- I don't get to see them very often so it was great!
  • Tegan being baptized
  • Spending New Year's Day in my jammies being lazy (it's so fabulous!!!)
  • Sentimental Christmas gifts
