Food for Thought Friday

Who will you be thinking mostly about this Memorial Day?
Our soldiers that have fought and continue to fight for our freedoms.

What are your Memorial Day traditions?
I don't really have any Memorial Day traditions- usually there is a bar-b-que at some point in the day. It's a pretty laid back day for me.

How many graves do you usually visit on Memorial Day?
None- does that make me a bad person? Growing up we never lived by where any of my relatives were buried so that wasn't ever something we did. Now that I live closer I still don't. Memorial Day has always been more of a military holiday for me as opposed to a day to remember family members who have passed away. Maybe I need to reevaluate my outlook on the day.

Midnight Snack
What is one thing you hope to remembered for?
My fabulousness! (I'm joking!!! I'm not that shallow, I promise!)

This is a difficult question and it's too early for me to think that deeply... what will you remember me for?

Fangirl Friday

Yes, I'm blogging about Blue October on Fangirl Friday again. Are you surprised? You shouldn't be ;)

Love this picture!

And this makes me very, very, very happy-

Aprilynne Pike Book Signing

I've been meaning to get this post written for a couple of weeks but as usual I'm a slacker and just now getting around to it.

I love it when authors whose books I've read are made of awesome- Aprilynne Pike is oh-so-fabulous. I met her at her book signing at King's English a couple of weeks ago. She wrote Wing and Spells-

I have a couple of friends who run a fan site for her books and I follow her on Twitter so I kind of knew going into it that I was going to have a great evening. I didn't expect to laugh as much as I did. She's very animated so we laughed a lot while she was telling us her publishing story.  If you haven't read Wings or Spells do it now. They are great reads!

(I can't tell you how much I hate this picture of me but I had to have proof that I actually met her!!)

Kathleen saves the day!

My aunt Kathleen is officially the coolest ever! She was named the Cache County Deputy of the Year and she's not even a deputy! Kathleen is a nurse at the Cache County jail and is the first civilian to ever be awarded this award. She got the award because she discovered an inmate's escape plan which ultimately saved the transport deputy's life. When all was said and done there were 10 arrests made in the case. She's amazing!!!
Congratulations Kathleen!!!

Fangirl Friday

Today's Fangirl Friday is more serious that normal. You'll find no silly fangirl gushing here but I still decided to post it on FF because it's something I feel passionate about and to me that's what FF is all about. I know that some of you are probably really tired of my posting about Blue October but I can't not post this interview. One of the things I admire the most about Blue October, besides their unbelievable talent, is their support of mental health issues. Justin Furstenfeld is very open about his struggles with bipolar and depression. This two part interview is Justin and his brother Jeremy, who is the drummer in Blue October, talking about living with bipolar disorder.

Even if you never listen to a Blue October song (gasp!!) you should watch these interviews. We all know someone that struggles with some kind of mental illness. This will help you open your eyes to what they are going through and how you can help.

Birthday Boys!

Mark's birthday was a couple of weeks ago (April 21st to be exact. Yes, I'm a slacker) We went to dinner at Applebee's with just the grown-ups in the family. Kathy brought a divine red velvet birthday cake along.

Mark & Dan turned 9 on Saturday (Yikes!!) and we had their birthday dinner on Sunday. Aunt Manda made them each their own cake. Mark's had a motorcycle on it and Dan's had Scooby-Doo on it. Both boys were very happy with their cakes.

Once again I took a bunch of pictures so here's another picture overload headed your way :)
