Coming Soon!

No, not that! Nope, not that either! Silly people!!!

There are so many good books coming out in the next few months. Here's what I'm going to be reading-

August 24th-Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

The conclusion to the Hunger Games Trilogy. If you haven't read Hunger Games and Catching Fire do it NOW!!!

August 31st- Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

This is actually a new series by the author of the Mortal Instruments Series. There is actually an ARC of this one on it's way to me so I don't have to wait until the publishing date. I'll let you know how I feel about it so you will know if you should read it or not. (I'm pretty sure I'll love it!)

September 1st- Spy Glass by Maria V. Snyder

The conclusion of the Glass Series. I LOVE everything Maria writes so I'm really excited about this one!

September 28th- Torment by Lauren Kate

The sequel to Fallen. It's gothic, southern, dark and fabulous. Read it- you won't be sorry!

October 12th- Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

It's the sequel to Beautiful Creatures. I enjoyed BC- didn't love it but I liked it enough to read the sequel.

October 12th- The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

The sequel to the sick, twisted and brilliant Maze Runner. Can't wait to see how James messes with our minds this time around.

October 19th- Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

The sequel to Hush, Hush. Once again, I didn't love it but I liked it enough to give the sequel a chance.

December 28th- The Lost Saint by Bree Despain

The sequel to The Dark Divine. Can't wait to see what Daniel is up to :)

I'm probably missing a few and I'm sure I'll find some that I hadn't planned on reading but for now this is what is on my reading horizon.

As a reward for not killing the lawn or the fish for the whole 3 1/2 weeks that they were in New Zealand Zeke and Amanda brought me a very special treat- Crunchies!

Crunchies are chocolatey honey-combed goodness and they are my very favorite treat from Cadbury. They were definitely worth the stress and worry of being responsible for the lawn. (I'm not very good at keeping plants alive so I was stressed out about it.)

Mmmm...mmmmm... GOOD!!!!

A whirlwind trip to Austin

When Blue October announced that they were doing a Texas only acoustic tour I knew that I wanted to go to one of the shows but I didn't think it was going to be possible because of the fact that the concerts were scheduled on the same weekend that Christy, Kim and I had planned to go to Durango. I didn't want to pass up on this once in a lifetime opportunity so I bought tickets to the Austin show which was on Thursday night and decided to figure something out. Thursday was originally planned as the driving to Durango day so I bought one way ticket to Austin and then a one way ticket to Durango on Friday morning. (Yes, I am psychotic)

At the before crack of dawn on the 22nd I flew to Austin. Luckily I have some fabulous friends that live in Austin that I got to visit while I was there. I had dinner with Lauralee, Jennifer, Katie, Jessica, April and Stephanie.

We had yummy Mexican food and even yummier dessert. I'm seriously considering moving to Austin just for the Tres Leches.

Katie and I headed to the concert. It was amazing, phenomenal, fabulous, fantastic, moving and 100% worth the trip. I was blown away! I wish I could put it into words but I can't.

After a grand total of 18 hours in Austin I boarded another plane and headed to Durango. (Details of that trip coming soon.) I know it's crazy of me to travel for that short of a time but it was something I really wanted to do and I don't regret it one bit. I made a Blue October fan out of Katie so I will have to go back to take her to a regular concert. Next time I'm going to go when it's not so hot and stay and actually do some sight-seeing.

The rest of my concert pictures can be seen here.

A Burger with "The Lot"

Last night we got together to celebrate Zeke and Erin's birthdays. We had burgers with "the lot" which is way of eating burgers that Zeke and Amanda learned about while serving their missions in Australia. We also call them Aussie burgers.

These are no ordinary burgers. They start out like a regular burger with a patty and a bun but what you put on them makes them Aussie burgers. The traditional toppings for burgers with "the lot" are cheese, pickles, sauteed onions, bacon, pineapple, pickled beets, a fried egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, and shredded carrots. They are huge, messy and delicious!

Here are Ben and Devon with their works of art-

Escaping reality

Over the next 4 days I will be going to see this-

(Yes, I am a crazy fan girl but there have to be a few perks to being single, right?)

and then I'm going here-

to hang out, eat, laugh, and get into trouble with these beautiful women-

*sigh* I love my life.

Wordless Wednesday

(I can't be completely wordless on this one- this is from my Durango trip last year. We're going back this weekend and I'm SO excited!!! Oh, and yes I know I'm a dork!)

Tuesday, July 20

I'm gonna cry, I just know it.

I'm more excited about this movie than a rational adult ought to be. I can't help it, I've been obsessed with this series since long before the first movie came out. I can't believe that the movies are almost done. I am so excited to see these two- Deathly Hallows is my favorite book in the series and I can't wait to see it come to life on the big screen. The trailer calls it the movie event of a generation and I agree 100%.

Little Baby Ben

I sat with Ben and his family today in church today. As I watched him interact with his boys I thought of the moments of obvious adoration his boys have for him I've managed to catch with my camera recently. I realized that I hadn't ever posted them here and that I really need to share them so that the rest of the world can be reminded what a great dad he is. As my youngest cousin he'll always be little baby Ben to me but to Will and Howie he's the best dad around.

What lucky boys they are!
